Origins The Founding Ancestor of this family is considered to have been "Berowald Flandrensis". His son Sir Walter de Inys was knighted prior to 7 Aug 1235 and received on 20 Jan 1225 from Alexander II, King of Scotland, a charter of confirmation of the Barony of Innes in Moray, situated between the rivers Spey & Lossie, which was conferred on his father in 1160 by King Malcolm IV. |
