Origins The account of this family here given is based on that on the "Memoirs of the Somervilles; being a history of the Baronial House of Somerville" by James Somerville of Drum, de jure 10th Lord Somerville, 1631/2-1693, written in 1769 though not printed till 1815 when it was edited by Sir Walter Scott, according to "The Complete Peerage" "a rambling and prolix work".
