In consideration of the deeds relating to the property, covenant by (1) with (2) to produce the deeds as and when requested, and to allow copies to be made. Includes a schedule of the deeds in (1)'s custody including: (i) indenture between William Twentyman and William Childers and Dorothy Rawson dated 11 Jun. 1658 [wanting]; (ii) mortgage dated 1 Aug. 1712 between William Twentyman and John Clay [wanting]; (iii) mortgage dated 26 Mar. 1719 between John Twentyman and John Clay [wanting]; (iv) lease and release dated 18-19 Sep. 1719 [see Ne D 3578]; (v) mortgage and assignment dated 13 Feb. 1720 NS [see Ne D 3579]. Recitals: (a) fact that the several deeds listed in the schedule at the foot of the document concern the title of a messuage called the Saracen's Head Inn in Market Place, Newark, as well as diverse other premises of (1) in Newark; (b) previous to the marriage of both parts of (2), the messuage called the Saracen's Head was conveyed by lease and release to a trustee for the benefit of Arabella the daughter; (c) agreed between the parties that the deeds relating to the property shall remain in the custody of (1). 1 membrane Top of page Ne D 3587 22.6.1768 Deed to lead uses of a fine from Rev. In pursuance of the agreement recited at (b) below, covenant by (1) to levy a fine or fines of 2 messuages, 4 barns, 4 stables, 4 gardens, 4 orchards and 1 acre of land with appurtenances in Newark; property comprises of a capital messuage called the Saracen's Head in Market Place, Newark, and also a newly built messuage with appurtenances in Potter Dike, Newark, which adjoins the back of the Saracen's Head [boundaries provided]. Declaration that the fine and any previous fines of the property are to inure to the uses of (1) for life and then the survivor of them and then in tail to be equally divided as tenants in common; further declaration that (1) has the power to revoke all uses and trusts on the property and appoint new ones. John Ridghill and Arabella his wife to James Clarke of a messuage called the Saracen's Head Inn, Newark, Nottinghamshire; 4-5 Apr. 1784 First Party: Rev. John Ridghill, clerk of Welbourn, Lincolnshire and Arabella his wife. Second Party: James Clarke, gentleman of Newark upon Trent, Nottinghamshire. In consideration of the agreements recited at (a) and (b) below, (1) revokes any uses appointed by the deed recited at (a) below of property in Newark. In further pursuance of the agreements (1) limits and appoints the capital messuage known as the Saracen's Head Inn with the buildings, stables, yards, gardens and appurtenances adjoining, now occupied by William Thompson to the use of (2) forever. In consideration of the above, lease [Ne D 3589] and release [Ne D 3590] from (1) to (2) of a capital messuage called the Saracen's Head Inn with all appurtenances; property is limited to the use of (2) except for a moiety of a yard or piece of ground adjoining other premises of (1) in Newark, and which was previously used as the dung yard of the Saracen's Head; usual covenants apply. Consideration: £3,325. In consideration of the sum of £1,000 paid to (1) by (2), lease [Ne D 3591] and release [Ne D 3592] from (1) to (2) of a capital messuage known as the Saracen's Head Inn with all appurtenances, now occupied by William Thompson, [except for the moiety of land stipulated in the lease and release dated 4-5 Apr. 1784; see Ne D 3589-3590]; includes arrangements for the payment of interest; expected covenants apply.
