, * George was considered by racing authorities to be the best cross country horseman in Australia in his younger years. * He became the owner of racehorses and a Trainer and owned stables in Raglan Street, Ascot near Ascot Racecourse in southern Sydney.(This racecourse doesn't exist today). This area later became Mascot. He raced his horses at Ascot, as well as at country racecourses such as Gosford and Kembla .
