, Remarkably he was 6' 8"! While at Wadham, Oxford, he becme a Quaker. During the famine of 1922/3, he went to Russia as a relief worker. He then stood as a Labour candidate in the 1924 election. He went on to become the personal secretary of Ramsay McDonald, head of the Labour Party. Quaker.
