Reginald (Reggie) Edmund Compton Butterworth 1906 - 1940
Reginald (Reggie) Edmund Compton Butterworth , Family lore says that he was a Battle of Britain pilot. [CvM I think this information is incorrect. I believe he was shot down in May 1940 while serving as an air gunner (not a pilot). However his rank was Pilot Officer! See: https://wikivisually.com/wiki/Reginald_Butterworth ] The pilot was: "http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/Butterworth.htm Kenneth Butterworth joined the RAFVR in June 1940 at 3 RAF Depot, Padgate as an Aircrafthand. After a short radar course at RAF Yatesbury he joined 23 Squadron at Collyweston and served with it in the Battle of Britain. He was still with the squadron in November 1940. His subsequent service is currently undocumented but it is believed that he survived the war." I believe the air gunner is the correct man. He was a top notch cricketer.
