Walker Heneage
  formerly Walker, of Compton Basset. dsp. Took surname of Heneage by Royal Lic. 8 March 1777 (cousin of Elizabeth Heneage). The reasons as set forth in the petition were, that he John Walker, "being grandson and heir of Cecil Heneage, deceased, daughter of Sir Michael Heneage, knt., and also cousin to Mrs Elizabeth Heneage, of West Hall, Mortlake, who is the only survivor and sole heiress of Charles Heneage Esquire, son of the above mentioned Sir M. Heneage" and also "that as there are not any issue remaining of the above mentioned branch of the Heneage family except the said Elizabeth, she is desirous that the petitioner and the issue of his body may take, use and bear the surname, arms and crest of Heneage". The Licence was duly granted on 8th March, 1777 signed by George III and Henry, Earl of Suffolk, Secretary of State. [No. 3009].
