Rev. Robert Mayor , of Shawbury, co Salop (1817). Church Missionary Society clergyman. He went to Ceylon in 1817 - to Baddegama. Vicar of Acton, co Salop (1828-1846). "CMS List 1817: Mayor, Robert, aged 26, of Shawbury Vicarage, Shropshire, medical student, deacon (1816), priest (1817) by Bishop of Gloucester, to Baddegama, Ceylon, 15th December 1717, returned to England 31st March 1828 and withdrew. Father of Rev. J.E.S. Mayor, Fellow of St. John's, Cambridge and Professor of Latin and of two distinguished brothers of St. John's. He died at Acton, July 1846, married Charlotte Bickersteth, sister to the Rev. E. Bickersteth, Secretary, CMS who died at Hampstead, 13th February 1870."
