Entered the Society of Jesus in 1666, became rector of the college of St. Aloysius in Lancashire in 1712 and chaplain at Croxteth, where he died on 13 April 1720, the last surviving Babthorpe descendant of Sir William Babthorpe and Barbara Constable, and the last of a direct-male line that could be traced twenty generations.
