George Warwick Bamfylde, 1st Baron Poltimore was born on 23 March 1786.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Warwick Bamfylde, 5th Bt. and Catharine Moore.1 He was baptised on 20 April 1786 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England.1 He married, firstly, Penelope Sneyd, daughter of Reverend Ralph Sneyd and Penelope Moore, on 2 May 1809 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England.1 George Warwick Bamfylde, 1st Baron Poltimore matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 10 October 1804.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [E., 1641] on 19 April 1823.1 He was created 1st Baron Poltimore, of Poltimore, co. Devon [U.K.] on 10 September 1831.1
