William Beal , Wesleyan minister (1841). Wesleyan minister at Liskeard, Cornwall. William Beal (1785-1872) was born in Devonport into a religious family. He was converted at the age of seventeen and was appointed by Dr Thomas Coke to look after a class at Liskeard Sunday School. Beal then became a local preacher and entered the ministry in 1808. His circuit ministry lasted until superannuation in 1848. During the early part of his career, he suffered hardship and persecution as a home missionary in Devon.
