Sir Arthur Capell 1604 - 1649
Sir Arthur Capell , English Royalist leader. Member of Short and Long Parliaments (1640); lieutenant general of Shropshire, Cheshire, and North Wales (1643); escorted queen to Paris (1646); aided in the escape of "Charles I" to Isle of Wight (1647); one of leaders of Second Civil War (1648); captured in siege of Colchester (1648) and beheaded. His portrait is in the National Portrait gallery, London.
