Sir Josiah Child , eldest son. "Foster Marriage Licences: Child Josiah, of Wansted, Essex, esq., bachelor, 22, and Elizabeth Cooke, spinster, about 16, daughter of Sir Thomas Cooke, of Hackney, co. Middlesex, who consents - at Hackney aforesaid, or .... 27 Feb, 1690/1." s.p. Knted at Guildhall 29 Oct. 1692. His father's will says Josiah is the eldest son. May he have meant the eldest son still alive at the time of writing the will?
