John Alford (Alf) Clarke , son of a clerk to a sugar refiner (1851), One source says he was an accountant's clerk at Stepney at the time of his marriage in 1870, clerk, married at 1871 census, merchant's clerk (1874), accountant (1878), accountant (1881, insurance broker (1891), later of Norwood, Secr. & Manager of South Norwood Assurance (or Insurance) Co. (1900). Manager of insurance Company (1901). He disappears after the 1901 census. His death may be the death rcorded in Gower in 1922.
