Herbert (Bertie) Charles Clarke , Insurance clerk (1901,11). Lived in Bridgnorth at the same time as Vera (Veevee) Giddings and later lived in Westcliffe-on-Sea for many years. Was involved in the St John's Ambulance. Insurance Clerkworking for Commerical Union Assurance, 27 Cornhill, London, E C (1921). Carolyn Giddings (2015) "Of course I remember Bertie! Wonderful man, he and Jo lived in Bridgnorth and had lots of (I think) West Highland terriers who barked a great deal! He was a Scout master - I think Commissioner for that part of the world. He had a hat like an Australian but no corks! It was his Commissioner's Scout hat I think. A.Veevee told Julie and me that Bertie had come in to see her, very pleased because Julie and I had met him in the street and each had planted a large kiss on opposing cheeks and he had two large lipstick marks on his face!! I think we were about 16 or so!"
