Clerk of Assize for the South Wales Circuit, 1890. One of the founders of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, 1884. Director of the National Anti-Vivisection Society, and President of the League for the Prohibition of Cruel Sports. Well known for his determined opposition to modern methods of biological study. Of the Ford, Chobham, Surrey, and of Camden House, Swanage. Twice married and had issue. Artist and author (miscellaneous).
