David I
Fowke
(of Normandy), According to tradition the FAMILY "FOWKE" descends from him, and certainly that Family's < Armorial Bearings support such tradition as was recorded by Edmonson, Mowbray Herald who derived it from one drawn up by Sir Mathew Seneger, Antiquary to King Henry VIII. from documents then (ca.1485) extant. "Whilst I hesitate to regard it as reliable there may be a substratum of truth in it" , Frank Rede Fowke (1847-1927), that family's main historian has written. The accepted view is that Gisela de Pepina and Rollo the Dane did not have any children. NB The accuracy of the Fowke family tree in the Middle Ages is questionable.
