Karl-August I. Josef Maria Gemmingen von Massenbach , His godfather was Karl August (von Wittelsbach) of Zweibrucken. 1st/2nd/3rd Baron Massenbach in the Kingdom of Bavaria (recogn. 6 July 1813 under Lit. G.1242 Nr.3163 for himself & heirs male general by Maximilian I., King of Bavaria) & in the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg (recogn. 8 Dec 1821 for himself & heirs male general by the Wuerttemberg House of Nobles) (subs. succ.1841 acc. to primogeniture also his bros. Baron Friedrich VII."), of Neuburg-an-der-Donau, etc., Forester for Neuburg-Palatinate (succ.1794 his father Baron Karl IV. Thaddaeus), etc., "a giant of a man" (Over two metres tall). He was succ. acc. to primogeniture by his grandson Karl IX. (1831-1912), subs. 15th Baron Massenbach in the H.R. Empire, etc.. Judge of the High Court of Appeal at Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. Brought up as a page at the Prince Palatine's Court, educated to follow his father as Forester. ca 1805 after the death of his first wife, he moved his residence from Vohenstrauss to Neuberg am Danube. A plaster cast of his hand (which was huge) existed until the 1950s. there was also a picture of him bearded and smoking his typically bavarian long pipe.
