, ---------------------------- 2007 - The descendants (now corrected to be descendants of his brother, Andrew) of Colonel Walter Hamilton-Tyndall-Bruce now live in New Zealand. Sir William Hamilton, born 1899 near Fairlie, South Canterbury on the South Island was the first man to make jet-propulsion of watercraft a practicality. His Hamilton patent jet units are world famous. He died in 1973 (now corrected to 1978) and the business is continued by his son Jon Hamilton. They still take a great interest in their Scottish ancestry.
