( goes on to descibe the brides dress) There were three bridesmaids, Miss Doreen Jarman (sister of the bride) and the Misses Phylis Ambrose and Pearl Rowlinson( friends of the bride) (goes on to describe their dresses) Their Amethyst necklaces were the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. B. Giddings (Cambridge) was the best man. [Doreen's future husband] The church was tastefully decorated for the occasion. The honeymoon was to have been spent in Scotland, but owing to the war, this was not possible. The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of presents, among these being a cheque from the brides former employers, Messrs Eaden Lilley and Co Ltd. and presents from a number of the staff.
