, Astronomer and mathematician. Invented some backbone mathematics with [Missing XREF c-lagrange58345] and [Missing XREF c-legendre58354]. 1799, he was made Minister of the interior by Napolean a post he kept for 6 weeks. "Pierre-Simon de Laplace has said to be the grandfather of Emerson O. Place, my great grandfather. His mothers maiden name was said to be "Russell". The first record I have of Emerson is a photo of him and his wife Kate Henderson, taken in Peoria, Illinois." Contact: Glenn W. Place
