William Merry , Shepherd (1823,1827,1832), Labourer (1829), Publican (1848), Victualler (1851). (This one) Farmer (1831,1834,1836,1843), retired farmer (1851). There is a problem with this family. There are two William Merrys aged 54 in Orwell in the 1851 census - one at 9 Orwell St, retired farmer, born Orwell, wife Ann, born Orwell, children Alfred 19, Ann 9. and the other at 43 Orwell Str, victualler, wdr, born Barrington, children William, 25, his wife Charlotte 21, children Emma and Jane. The two families have not yet been disentangled. I do not know where Ann Shepherd or the information about her came from.
