, St. Mary's Madras, memorial inscription In memory of James Law Lushington MORANT Lieutenant Colonel Royal Engineers born 17th November 1839, died at Melbourne, Australia 17th June 1886. He joined the Corps of Madras Engineers in 1839 and passed the whole of his service in the Bombay and Madras Presidencies. This memorial is erected by his brother officers in token of their esteem."
