, physician; educated at Marlborough, St John's College, Cambridge, and St Bartholomew's Hospital; successively assistant physician, full physician, and consulting physician to St George's Hospital and Victoria Hospital for Children; consulting physician, Royal Navy, 1914-18; regius professor of physic, Cambridge, 1925-32; eminent clinician and pathologist and leading authority on presentation of medical articles; joint editor, second edition, Allbutt's System of Medicine (1905-11); published Diseases of the Liver, Gall-bladder, and Bile-ducts (1905) and many other works; KCB, 1918.
