Henry Herbert Riley-Smith formerly Riley 1863 - 1911
Henry Herbert Riley-Smith formerly Riley, eldest son. of Toulston Lodge, near Bramham. The property was formerly a possession of the Fairfax family. He and his younger brother inherited the John Smith Brewery at Tadcaster, Yorks., from their maternal uncle William. A condition was that the two nephews should take the name Smith in addition to Riley. He was Chairman of the company at Tadcaster (1892-1911). 1881 census, described as practical brewer. The property consists of 4 houses with shops (one of which is an off-licence) on a plot on the North side of the main road from Swinton to Doncaster. There is an intended new road immediately to the East of the plot. Note that Henry and Frank Riley-Smith are in partnership as Brewers at Tadcaster trading as "John Smith".
