Maj. Henry Edward Ryves , Hart's Army List, 1873 Majors in the Madras Staff Corps. His entry reads: Major Henry Edward RYVES, Officiating Wing Officer, 34th Madras Infantry. Last Regt : 19th N.I.; 26 years' service. 2nd Lt/Cornet/Ensign : 10 Dec 1847 Lt : 8 Aug 1853 Brevet Capt. : 18 Feb 1861 Capt. : 7 May 1862 Maj. : 10 Dec 1867 Served in the Burmese War in 1852-53, and was present at the capture of Pegu, and recapture of Beeling (Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Was also engaged in suppressing the mutiny in Bengal with Maj.Gen.Whitlock's Force in 1858-59; commanded a detachment of his regiment under General Shubrick into the Mundlah district in pursuit of Rumnut Sing, a rebel chief of Rewah, from Nov 1859-Jan 1860. ?
