Rev. Russell Scott 1760 - 1834
Rev. Russell Scott , worked closely with Joseph Priestley to establish the Unitarian movement in Britain. Minister of the Unitarian Chapel in Portsmouth from 1788. Of Portsmouth. He, the Rev. Russell Scott of High Street Chapel, Portsmouth and the Rev. Thomas Dalton, Vicar of Carisbrooke formed a Unitarian Society for the South of England "for the promotion of religious knowledge and the practice of virtue by distribution of books." An Annual Meeting was to be held on every second Wednesday in July at a place appointed the preceding year at which a sermon would be preached. He had two granddaughters, Isabella and Catherine Scott who wrote a Family Biography in 1908.
