Fritz Adolf Carl (Carl) Henry Stubbe , Formerly of Hamburg. Sworn Measurer at Tientsin, a British appt.. Member of British Club. Karl left his military school ca 1884 and went to China. With a partner he had a dried eggs factory in Waku Bar where he met his wife to be. She was an overseer. They had 3 children all of whom died very young. They moved to Teintsin where he was the sole representative for the Asiatic Petroleum Company (which was formed on 27 Jun 1902), selling kerosene in China and Mongolia working from Tein Tsin. They moved during the Boxer Revolution (1899-1901), witnessing executions on the street. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tientsin. The rich people gave their money to Europeans - one of their friends did this and the German "got rich" (he didn't give it back). By now they were well off, and Karl was asked to be Sworn Measurer at Taku Bar, by the British. He also joined the British Club. The rest of the children, who were by now appearing on the scene, survived, since they had nannies. When the war came, being German, Karl lost his job and felt he had to resign from the British Club. They lost everything, including their furniture. After this, he acted as accountant for various American firms and had other small business involvments.
