John Tennant Stansfield Tennant formerly Stansfield, of Chapel House and of Otley. J.P., Capt. 3rd West Yorkshire Militia, succ. his great-uncle ante 1811 and assumed the name and arms of Tennant. According to Speight (chapter 40, page 460) On the death of Robert Tennant the estate (Chapel House) was devised to his great-nephew, John Tennant Stansfield, son of Jonathan Stansfield, of Idle, Co. York, on the condition that he took the name and arms of Tennant. .....This John Tennant Stansfield Tennant, who was born in 1790, married (1) his kinswoman, Rebecca Wilson, daughter of the Rev. Henry Wilson, vicar of Otley, and (2) Anne Catherine, daughter of James Shaw, of Otley. He died in 1830. He was captain in the 3rd West York Militia and a J.P. of the West Riding "in the commission of the peace, and captain in the 3rd West York Militia."
