, The Rev. Sir John Thoroton, M. A., the rector of Bottesford from 1782 to 1820, and for twenty-three years the domestic chaplain, the valued friend, and the faithful companion of the late Duke and Duchess of Rutland, was knighted by George IV. when Prince Regent, and it is to him that Belvoir Castle owes much of its beauty.
