, CvM has some correspondence between Countess von Moltke and Baroness Clare von Massenbch (grandmother to CvM) concerning her husband's death. Clare believed her own husband was forced to take part in the firing squad in order to profess his own allegience to the Nazi regime. The belief was that the whole firing squad was made up of people who would have known von Moltke personally and who may have been suspect in some way - not a normal firing squad! She spent her youth in the Rheinland, her holidays in Austria, and her studies at Bonn University.
