Sir Thomas Walmesley , Knt. an eminent lawyer and serjeant-at-law in Elizabeth's reign, and one of the judges of the court of Common Pleas in that of King James I. Sir Thomas founded the family of Dunkenhalgh , now extinct. knt. of Dunkenhalgh , in the county of Lancaster , an eminent lawyer in the reigns of Elizabeth and James I. In the former, anno 1580 , he was called by writ to the degree of serjeant-at-law, and in the latter, 10 May 1589 , made one of the judges of the court of Common Pleas. buried at Blackburn , "under a fair monument," which was demolished by the parliamentary army about 1644 )
