Died without issue, when the male line of this elder branch of the Walmesleys expired, and Catherine, his sister, became sole heir to the real and personal fortune. The former, comprising the great estates in Yorkshire and Lancashire, passed into the family of Petre, and the latter, consisting of an enormous funded property, devolved on that of Stourton.
