Will of Hannah Fordham -Orwell 1836 widow {from Ely Consist. Probate

In the name of God I Hannah Fordham of Orwell in the County of
Cambridge Widow being ill and weak in body but of sound mind memory
and understanding praised be God for the same do make this my last
Will and Testament in manner and form following that is after the
payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses I will and desire
that all my Messuages or Tenements Barns Yards Gardens Orchards Common
Rights with all the Appurtenames and my lands situate lying and being
in the Parish of Orwell aforesaid shall be sold to the best advantage
by my Executors herein afternamed as soon as it may be convenient
after my decease.
And I give and bequeath to my Daughter Lydia the Sum of Thirty Pounds
to be paid to her out of the sum of money which my said Estates shall
be sold for but ten pounds of the said thirty pounds shall be paid to
her as soon as the said Estates are sold and paid for and I desire
that the remaining Twenty Pounds shall be paid to her in four
different payments viz: five pounds at the expiration of one year from
the time of the payment to her of the ten pounds and five Pounds per
year for the three following years successively.
Also I desire that the Sum of Twelve Pounds be paid to Thomas Scruby
of Orwell in the said County for and on behalf of my said Daughter
Lydia which she stands indebted to him for.
Also I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Sarah Gideon the Sum of
Thirty Pounds to be paid to her when she attains the Age of twenty one
years.
And all the rest and residue of the said Sum of money arising from the
sale of my said estates I give and bequeath unto each of my four
grandsons Thomas William John and Joseph and unto each of my two
granddaughters Mary and Ann sons and daughters of my said daughter
Lydia to be paid to each share and share alike that is in equal
proportions when and as they attain their several and respective Ages
of twenty one years.
And in case my said Daughter Lydia has any more Children after the
date of this Will then and in that case I desire that each and every
of her children thus born shall have share and share alike of the said
residue of the money with my above named grandsons and granddaughters
Sarah Gideon excepted and the same to be paid to them when as they
attain their several and respective Ages of twenty one years.
And in case any of my above named Grandsons and Grandaughters die
before they attain the Age of twenty one years then and in that case
I give and bequeath his her or their share or shares to be equally
divided among those of my grandsons and granddaughters who survive in
the same manner as above mentioned
And I desire that all the money arising from the Sale of my said
Estates after the said Sums of ten and twelve pounds are paid as above
desired and other debts and expenses paid shall then be placed out at
Interest upon safe and sure security where it can be obtained when
wanted.
And I will and desire that the Interest arising therefrom shall be
paid yearly to my said Daughter Lydia for own use and benefit but this
shall not commence until one year after she has received the last
payment of the above named Sum of twenty Pounds.
And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint Pettengell
Merry Junr and John Huddlestone both of Orwell in the said County of
Cambridge to be joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
hereby revoking and making void all and every other Will and Wills at
any time heretofore by me made and do declare this to be my last Will
and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
this twenty first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and thirty six - Hannah + Fordham her Mark signed sealed
declared and published by the said Hannah Fordham the Testatrix as and
for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her
request and in her presence and in the presence of each other have
subscribed our names as Witness hereto - Martha Parcell - Jane Scruby

Proved by the Oaths of Pettengell Merry and John Huddlestone the
Executors above named before the Reverend Edward Ventris Clerk
