, Quaker. Of Blaise castle near Bristol, friend of Hannah Moore and William Wilberforce. Author and philanthropist, he imnherited Peterwell in 1821. He gave the site for the founding of Lampeter University and gave large sums towards the provision of clean water for the borough of Lampeter. Tory. Doctor of Civil Law in the University of OXford (1822), Fellow of the Royal Society, High Sheriff of Cardiganshire (1824) and JP for Cardiganshire and Gloucestershire.
