Rev. William John Parker , of Kussoulie (1858). W.J.Parker was a Principal of the Lawrence Military Asylum (L.M.A.). The main assembly hall at the School is named Parker Hall to this day. There is an entry for W.J.Parker in "Soldiers of the Raj". Its from Tablets in Holy Trinity Church in the Lawrence Military Asylum - Simla District. "1st Jan. 1863. William John PARKER To the Memory of the Revd. William John PARKER, first Principal of the Lawrence Military Asylum, who was selected by the Founders Sir Henry and Lady Lawrence, to carry out their benevolent design. He took charge of the Asylum in 1847, when it contained but few Children, and lived to see nearly 500 within its walls. The buildings in which they live, and the Church in which they worship, were designed and erected by him. Faithfully and devotedly he performed the duty entrusted to him; and after more than fifteen years of unbroken labor and responsibility he was attacked by Paralysis while performing Divine Service with his flock on Sunday, 28th December 1862, and died January 1st 1863, in his 51st year. This monument is erected by the Government of India, in grateful acknowledgment of his Services to Soldiers Children."
