, English naval officer in service of Tuscany and Naples. Commanded Tuscan squadron against Algeria (1774); reorganised and made commander in chief of Neopolitan Navy (1779); minister of navy, of war, of finance, and prime minister under Ferdinand IV of Naples; on entry of French into Naples fled to Sicily (1806).
