Catherine Biggar , lived at Buccleugh Place, Edinburgh (1799, 1820). In the 1881 census, there was a Walter Biggar (80), born Roselea, Edin., living at 12 Buccleaugh Pl., Edinburgh - Occ: Amanuensis Rtd (Source: FHL Film 0224006 GRO Ref Volume 685-4 EnumDist 72 Page 14) She had a large family, incl. several sons. She left a diary which is in the possession of June Morgan (nee Hamilton) Daughter of Sir William Hamilton, inventor of speedboat jet engine. "Parliamentary Papers, House of Commons and Command, Volume 23 By Great Britain. Parliament. House of Commons Civil Service, p. 48 Hamilton, Catherine; age 74 - £39. Widow of Andrew Hamilton, for a considerable number of years deputy comptroller of excise in Scotland, and author of "An Inquiry into the Principles of Taxation, chiefly applicable to articles of immediate consumption", a work of considerable reputaion in its day; he left a widow and six infant children." She was awarded a pension of £49 ca 1838.
