He was disabled in a horsefall on his way to a hunt meet one frosty winter morning & it was as a result of injuries sustained from falling out of his wheelchair in his garden that he died. Tom McClintock Bunbury and William Rochford of Cahir Abbey were executors of his will. At the time of his death, his assets were valued at £62,347 & apart from a number of bequests, he left the property to his niece, Grace Ellen Burton, wife of Sir Francis Denys, who lived at Pollacton House.
