VeryRev. Philip Frank Eliot 1835 - 1917
VeryRev. Philip Frank Eliot , KCVO DD educated at Bath Grammar School. He won an exhibition at Trinity College, Oxford, where he took a second class in Classical Moderations in 1855 and a second class in Lit. Hum. in 1857. He was ordained a deacon in 1858, and was for two years a curate at St. Michael's, Winchester. He was priested in 1860, and in 1861 accepted the private chaplaincy of Cally House, near Gatehouse, Kirkcudbright, the estate of Mr. Murray Stewart. From 1864-1867 he was the curate of Walcot, Bath. From 1867 he was vicar of Holy Trinity, Bournemouth. In 1881 he was nominated to an honorary canonry in Winchester Cathedral. In 1886 he received from the Crown a residentiary canonry of Windsor, and in 1891 was conferred the Deanery of Windsor, and therefore left Bournemouth where he was succeeded by his brother. He was, ex officio the Registrar of the Order of the Garter. In 1904 he was elected Proculator of the Lower House of the Convocation of Canterbury. He resigned as Dean on medical advice on 21st. November 1912.l
