Edward Fowke , of Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia, formerly of Wales, Carpenter and Bush Farmer. He emigrated to Australia on the ship "Swiftsure" from Liverpool, arriving there on 29 Dec 1865 with his wife Jane A.M. (nee) Ashfield (ca.1838-1868), his two daughters Anna Fowke, subs. Green (1859-1948) and Elizabeth J. Fowke, subs. Robertson (1860-post/1897), his son Charles E. Fowke (1863-1957), his sister Isabella Fowke, subs. O'Brien (1840-post/ca.1876), and his then 59 year old father Charles Fowke (1805-82), to join his aunt Elizabeth Bell (nee Fowke) (1809-82) at Braidwood, New South Wales. He is the Founding Ancestor of the FAMILY "FOWKE, formerly of Braidwood, N.S.W.". His elder brother Charles E. Fowke (1926-1904?) had emigrated with his wife & 5 children one year previously to New Zealand, there became the the Founding Ancestor of the FAMILY "FOWKE, formerly of Lyttleton, N.Z.". In 1909 Edward and his wife lived in Rooty Hill where they owned a chicken farm. On his death his wife went to live with her daughter Isabella Higgins (nee Fowke) (1870-1942) at Nyngan. A devout christian, aged 16 at the time of her marriage to the widower Edward, she not only took on his 4 children by his 1st wife but also bore him a further 10 children.
