Henry Fox , Whig MP for Hindon (1735). Secretary of War (1746), Cabinet member (1754), Secretary of State and Leader of the House of Commons (1755). After Minorca fell to the French in 1756, Fox resigned and in December, Pitt took over the government. After this, Fox's political career declined.
