He was in command of a patrol which was fired on by an enemy machine gun at a range of 30 yards, and three of his men were wounded. He succeeded in dragging two of them back, with the help of the third man, a distance of 200 yards to a point where he could return to our lines and bring back help. His courageous and determined action prevented the men from falling into the enemy's hands." Issue - 3 children.
