Larpent

, 2nd son. of East Sheen, Surry. Secretary to the 4th Duke of Bedford at the Peace of Paris, in 1763, and susequently secretary to the 1st Marquess of Hertford, when Lord Lieutenant of Ireland; for many years was actively employed in the office of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, holding frequently the offices of secretary to the Lord Privy Seal and to the secretary of state, and was, in Nov 778, appointed examiner and licenser of all plays and theatrical entertainments.
