, eldest son. educ. "expensively" for India. Married ca 1815? Issue? He went to India and was not heard from again. Capt. 2nd West India Regiment according to the article on the Power family from The Builder 1891 which also says he dsp. Forster mentions that in 1847 Lady Blessington received from her brother, Major Power, who held a military appointment at Hobart Town, an oil portrait of a young lady from his clever brush; and it is said that 'he had contrived to put the expression of his own wickedness into the portrait of a nice, kind-hearted girl.' This was in reference to Oscar Wilde and inspiration for The Picture of Dorian Gray. The Regimental history up to 1815: 1795.04.24 Sir William Myers's Regiment of Foot in the West Indies formed with Black soldiers, British officers and NCOs, and an establishmen of ten companies and one troop of dragoons (the latter never formed?) 1798 2nd West India Regiment absorbed St.Vincent Black Rangers due to slow recruiting for the regiment They seem to have been in the Bahamas ca 1815. Twenty -one were killed during the mutiny and the rest captured by the reminder of the regiment. A further seven of the mutineers were executed after being court-martialled. Two officers were killed by the mutineers. As new recruits these men were purchased by the British Government as enslaved Africans and had rebelled to obtain their freedom. Dublin Evening Post, 23rd Sep 1806 "On the 19th September, 1806, a duel was fought near two mile Bridge , in teh vicinity of Clonmel, betwqeen a Lieutenant Kettlewell (now Colonel Kettlewell) and Michael power, Esq., the eldest son of Edmodn Power; when after the discharge of two shots each, teh affair was amicably settled by the interference of the seconds. Captain Armstrong of the Artillerym was friend to Lieutenant Kettlewell; and Mr. O'Connell, of Clonmel, was the second of Mr. Power,
