In 1871 the County of Tipperary had a population of 216,713 and 38,544 inhabited homes, yet its 1,042,246 acres were still in the hands of a mere 1,706 owners (a further 210 acres were shared between 666 others !). The old familiar names still held the large ranges of the county: OWNER: Edmond Jas. Power Lalor RESIDENCE: Long Orchard, Templemore ACREAGE (Acres, Roods & Perches)7,311
