, (succ. 1329 his father King Robert I.), Earl of Carrick (cr.1328). He was succ. by his nephew Robert II. (1316-90). s.p. In August 1332, at the Battle of Dupplin Moor, near Perth -- three years after his accession -- David II. was overthrown by Edward Balliol. The following December restored to the throne, he was again deposed by Edward Balliol the following year, but finally restored in 1336.
