Power, (succ. 1742 his 1st cousin Henry Power), of The Grange, co. Galway, & Gurteen, co. Waterford, Ireland. He served in France under his maternal uncle Lt. Col. John Power (+ Paris), de jure 9th Lord Le Poer & Corroghmore. He was succ. by his bros. William (+ 1743) 2nd but 1st surviving son. Died without male issue. Related? Boston News-Letter Boston, MA 8 August 1728 Letters by Wednesday's post from Loughrea, in the County of Galway, brings the following melancholy Account, viz. That on Saturday last the three Daughters of Mr. Power, of Grange, and one Mrs. Magher, a Relation, two Footmen, and a Maidservant, coming in a boat cross the Lough of Loughrea, were drowned, by a board in the Bottom starting or springing out; the Ladies endeavoured to keep out the water with their Clothes, but in vain & the two Boatman, rowed for Life to get to the Shore, but could not before the Boat sunk. All in her were drowned, except one of the Boatmen, who held the Oar with both his Hands, which preserved him till he was taken out. The Boat sunk within 40 Yards of the Shore. The four Women being taken up, were all buried in one Grave on Sunday Night.
