Cmdr. Herbert Thomas Ryves 1810 - 1886
Cmdr. Herbert Thomas Ryves , Of Llyswen (1849). R.N. Served as Chief Officer of an HEIC war-steamer in the first Opium War and was severely wounded at Amoy. He was a senior Lieutenant in the RN in the River Plate, 1844-47 and was later a Coast Guard officer. He retired with the rank of Commander in 1866 and lived at St. Asaph, Flintshire. and at Denbigh.
