Lieut. - 9 Sept. 1818. d. - Bareilly, 27 July 1826. ("Shot himself" - annotation in Cal. Dir. for 1826, in Brit. Museum.) 3rd son of Robert Bellew, of Ballendiness, Castle Martyr, co. Cork, barr.-at-law (a cadet of the family of Lord Bellew), and Sophia Fowke his wife. Brother of Henry Walter Bellew (q.v.), and cousin-german of Patrick Bel- lew Fitton (q.v.).
